To begin with the structure of the General Court itself, a number of changes have recently been introduced in the organization of the Court following the enlargement of its college. Could you explain for our readers what impact those changes will have on the functioning of the General Court ? The third and last phase of the reform foreseen by Regulation 2015/2422, allowing for the doubling of the number of judges at the General Court (two judges appointed per Member States), was completed in September 2019. The General Court adopted several organisational measures at the end of last year to support its enlargement and make sure the reform delivers concrete results in terms of effective judicial protection for European citizens. Marc van der Woude (GCEU) : The reform of the General Court for a better and faster judicial review
Septembre 2019 a marqué l’achèvement de la réforme du Tribunal de l’Union européenne prévue par le Règlement 2015/2422. Doté dorénavant de deux juges par État membre, le Tribunal est en mesure de rendre une justice de qualité, dans un délai raisonnable, même dans les cas les plus complexes. Le nouveau Président du Tribunal, Marc van der Woude, explique les mesures mises en œuvres pour accompagner cette évolution importante et met en lumière les défis auxquels sa juridiction devra faire face dans les années à venir.
