The Regional Administrative Tribunal for Latium upholds the Competition Authority which fined 26 pasta manufacturers and two trade associations for having cartelized the market for durum semolina pasta (Pricing of Pasta)

By a judgment of December 2009 the Regional Administrative Tribunal for Latium decided on the appeal against the decision of the Italian Competition Authority (ICA) in the Pricing of Pasta case [1]. The ICA had fined 26 pasta manufacturers and two trade association for having cartelized the market for durum semolina pasta [2]. The administrative judges dismissed the appeal, upholding all the findings of the ICA. The facts of the case The ICA found that 26 pasta manufactures and two trade associations, Unipi (the Italian Pasta Manufacturers Association) and Unionealimentari,whichregrouped small and medium food manufacturers, had perpetrated a collusion during the period starting from October 2006
