The EU Court of Justice dismisses appeal brought by a power cable producer for its involvement in a market-sharing cartel (Pirelli)

On 28 October 2020, the Court of Justice (the “ECJ”) dismissed an appeal brought by Pirelli & C. SpA (“Pirelli”) against the judgment of the General Court (“GC”) which had upheld the Commission’s decision against Pirelli in the Power Cables cartel case. On 2 April 2014, the Commission imposed fines totalling € 302 million on eleven producers of underground and submarine (extra) high voltage power cables (together with their respective parent companies) for their involvement in a market-sharing cartel.
