The French Competition Authority fines three undertakings for price fixing in the linoleum floor sector and changes its competition compliance policy (Forbo / Tarkett / Gerflor)

Leading French PVC and linoleum floor covering manufacturers, Forbo, Tarkett - both leniency applicants - and Gerflor together with the sector’s trade association have been sanctioned by the French Competition Authority for having implemented anticompetitive practices over more than two decades. At the same time, the French Competition Authority withdrew its competition compliance policy. As a result, it can be understood that offering up or enhancing compliance programmes are no longer per se be used as a failsafe means to reduce antitrust fines in France. According to the French Competition Authority, three anticompetitive practices had been implemented by the three main manufacturers of floor coverings in France.
