Introduction On 25 October 2006, the Irish Competition Authority announced its decision to block the proposed Euro87 million acquisition of Leanort Group by Kingspan Group plc on the grounds that the proposed transaction would substantially lessen competition in the manufacture and provision of insulation materials in Ireland. This is the second time since the coming into effect of the new provisions on merger control in 2003 that the Authority has blocked a merger.
