The Luxembourg Competition Council issues an opinion on the market for taxi services anticipating a Parliament vote on a draft law

Following a request from the Minister of the Economy and Foreign Trade of 19 September 2007, on 15 November 2007 the Council issued an opinion n° 2007-AV-02 on the question of whether the State is still allowed to fix prices in the market for taxi services under the conditions set out by the law of 17 May 2004 on competition (the “Law on competition”). Those conditions are the structure of the market, an impossibility for the consumers to benefit from the advantages of the market or legislative provisions. The issuing of this opinion raises some important questions concerning the powers of the Council, whereas in their substance, the conclusions of the Council are not particularly far-reaching. I.
