The Belgian Competition Authority accepts commitments in order to improve competition on the soft drink market (Coca-Cola)

This case began in 1998 when a wholesaler, Distri-One, complained to the Competition Office of the Federal Public Service Economy (hereinafter the “Competition Office”) about the distribution practices of Coca-Cola Enterprises Belgium (hereinafter CCEB) on the basis of article 3 of the Belgian Act on the Protection of Economic Competition concerning abuse of dominance. Among other alleged abuses, CCEB used to grant rebates on a discriminatory basis and to impose specific ordering procedure upon Distri-One.
