The Swedish Competition Authority orders three undertakers to pay administrative fines for anticompetitive cooperation in the form of collusive tendering in public procurement processes (Funeral services)

Introduction On May 19, 2010, the Swedish Competition Authority (“SCA”) ordered the three undertakers (funeral directors), Fonus ekonomisk förening (”Fonus”), Säffle-Åmåls Begravningsbyrå AB (”Säffle-Åmåls”) and Begravningsbyrån Roland Andersson Aktiebolag (“Roland Andersson”) to pay administrative fines (fine orders) of SEK 485,000 in total. The fine orders were imposed on all three firms for engaging in collusive tendering amounting to unlawful price collusion (i.e. a cartel) when responding to tender invitations from the municipality of Karlstad and the Värmland County Council.
