The Greek, Irish and Portuguese Governments implement competition-related commitments enshrined in Memoranda of Understanding aimed at supporting the economic recovery

Much has been discussed about the impact of the economic crisis on the enforcement of competition law and the implementation of structural reforms in key economic sectors. The recent experience with Greece, Ireland and Portugal regarding the economic adjustment programs concluded with the European Commission (EC), the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the European Central Bank (ECB) shows that competition law enforcement and competition-related structural reforms in strategic economic sectors advocated long since by the respective National Competition Authorities were the winners in this process.
