The French Competition Authority applies leniency for the third time and fines six manufacturers for price-fixing in the plywood sector (Plywood cartel)

Summary of the Decision Further to a leniency application and an investigation involving dawn raids and seizures, the French Competition Council (the "Council") fined six manufacturers active in the exotic plywood sector (Etablissements Mathé, Etablissements Guy Joubert, Etablissement Allin, Rougier Panneaux, Plysorol and Jean Thébault) for price fixing. More specifically, the Council found that from 1995 to 2004, the manufacturers had held regular meetings in the context of their professional organisation (Union des Fabricants de Contreplaqué) in order to regulate their production levels and coordinate their price increases. The Council also found the manufacturers guilty of having a shared product price scale over 17 years (from 1987 to 2004). About 70% of all tropical plywood sales
