On 1st March 2006 the OFT adopted a decision accepting binding commitments offered by Associated Newspapers Limited (ANL). Accordingly, the OFT closed its file in respect of an investigation into an alleged breach by ANL of UK and EC competition rules through the conclusion of contracts granting ANL exclusive 24-hour distribution rights in London underground and train stations for its free morning newspaper. From 1998 Associated Newspapers Limited (ANL), publisher of the Daily Mail, Mail on Sunday, Ireland on Sunday and the Evening Standard newspapers, concluded a series of contracts with London Underground Limited (LUL), Network Rail (NR) and a number of train operating companies (TOC).
