The French Competition Authority received commitments from four maritime transport companies which it concludes would revitalise competition between operators on shipping routes to the French West Indies and lower the price of goods for consumers in the French overseas departments. On 3rd November 2009, the French Competition Authority (Autorité de la Concurrence,hereafter the NCA) launched ex-officio proceedings regarding maritime freight between Northern Europe and the French West Indies.
