The Hungarian Competition authority imposes fines for bid rigging cartel in the railroad construction sector (Colas, MÁVÉPCELL, MÁV MTM, Szentesi Vasútépítő and Vasútépítők)

On 9 June 2010, the Hungarian Competition Authority (Gazdasági Versenyhivatal, GVH) adopted an infringement decision establishing that Colas Zrt., MÁVÉPCELL Kft., MÁV MTM Zrt., Szentesi Vasútépítő Kft. and Vasútépítők Kft. colluded and agreed to share the market, on the principles to be followed and in certain cases about the winner itself in connection with invitations to tenders for public procurement procedures for renovating, reconstructing and rehabilitating railway lines in Hungary, thereby infringing Hungarian competition law and Article 101 TFEU. The GVH imposed a fine of HUF 7.178 billion (approx. € 25.6 M) on the parties except Vasútépítők Kft. , which cooperated with the GVH within the framework of the leniency program.
