The EU Commission unconditionally clears a merger in the aviation sector (Ryanair / LaudaMotion)

By a decision issued in Ryanair/LaudaMotion [1], whose public version has been recently published, the EU Commission has approved the Ryanair acquisition of the Austrian carrier LaudaMotion. Considering the expected economic effects of the planned merger through the lenses of the O&D approach and the airport-by-airport approach, the Commission reached the conclusion that the transaction was unlikely to negatively affect the competition in the concerned relevant market.
