Google has announced new licensing options and structure in its business model to comply with the Commission’s Android decision. These options came into effect on October 29, 2018. While full details over the announced chances are not yet known, in this piece we attempt to analyze the implications of these changes on the mobile ecosystem based on publicly available information. The Android ecosystem and its main “actors” Google Android is an open source mobile operating system (OS) that is based on a Linux kernel. It is primarily designed for smartphones and tablet computers.
