The UK Competition Authority publishes its guidance on its role during the Brexit transition period

On 28 January 2020, the UK’s Competition and Markets Authority (the “CMA”) published guidance to explain how it will conduct its work during the transition period as a result of the UK’s exit from the EU (the “Guidance”). The Withdrawal Agreement ratified between the UK and the EU details the terms of the exit and provides for a transition period (lasting at least until 31 December 2020) during which EU law will continue to apply to the UK (see VBB on Competition Law, Volume 2020, No. 1).
