The EU Commission conditionally clears the acquisition of joint control of a German electricity company by a French electricity incumbent and an association of nine south-west German districts (EDF / Zweckverband Oberschwäbische Elektrizitätswerke / Energie Baden-Württemberg)

"Merger Control: Main developments between 1st January 2001 and 30th April 2001"* In February, the Commission authorised, subject to conditions, the acquisition of joint control of German electricity company Energie Baden-Württemberg AG (EnBW) by Electricité de France (EdF) and Zweckverband Oberschwäbische Elektrizitätswerke (OEW), an association of nine south-west German districts. The operation, as initially notified to the Commission, would have led to the strengthening of EdF‘s dominant position on the market for eligible (i.e. large) customers in France.
