The EU Court of Justice AG Rantos issues an opinion suggesting that prior approval rules by sports-governing bodies do not conflict with EU competition law (ESLC / UEFA / FIFA)

On 15 December 2022, Advocate General (“AG”) Rantos issued an opinion in the European Superleague Company case in which he recommended that the FIFA-UEFA rules on the prior approval of new sports competitions should be held to be compatible with Articles 101 and 102 TFEU.
