On 15 December 2022, Advocate General (“AG”) Rantos issued an opinion in which he recommended that the Court of Justice of the EU should set aside a General Court judgment largely upholding a 2017 Commission decision that the eligibility rules of the International Skating Union (the “ISU”) had infringed Article 101 TFEU (Case C-124/21, International Skating Union v Commission). The ISU is the exclusive body recognised by the International Olympic Committee (“IOC”) in the field of figure skating and speed skating on ice.
