The Pakistan Competition Authority issues an opinion aiming at eliminating the discriminatory application of Inland Freight Equalization Margin

Opinion In terms of its opinion issued on the 7th of August 2014, the Competition Commission of Pakistan (CCP) advised the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) and the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Resources (MNPR) to eliminate discriminatory application of Inland Freight Equalization Margin (IFEM) and to create a level playing field for all refineries and oil marketing companies in crude and refined oil markets. Background CCP took notice of concerns raised by an oil refinery in Pakistan (Refinery) in respect of benefits of IFEM denied to it by OGRA and MPNR which, according to the Refinery, was not only discriminatory, but also put it at a competitive disadvantage in respect of other refineries operating in Pakistan
