The Turkish Competition Authority cleared a merger in the chewing gum market subject to divestiture and limitation of the duration of the confidentiality obligation (Greencastle-Intergum)

The operation Greencastle is a wholly owned subsidiary of Cadbury Schweppes which is London based public company. Cadbury Schweppes is active in the business of production and marketing of confectionery and beverages. At the time of the notification, Cadbury was active in the Turkish confectionery market through its subsidiary Kent Gýda Maddeleri Sanayi ve Ticaret A.S. (“Kent”) of which it indirectly held 95.36% of the share capital. Intergum Group is a group based in Turkey and active in the field of production and distribution of chewing gum. Intergum Group was the biggest undertaking in Turkey among the undertakings producing chewing gum. 20% of the turnover of Intergum Group was generated through export, mainly to North America and Europe.
