The UK Competition Commission proposes remedies for the groceries sector (Groceries Market)

Summary The Competition Commission took almost two years to analyse the grocery market in the UK. This extensive investigation gives an insight into the purpose of Market Investigations under the Enterprise Act, and the ways in which they can complement more standard competition law. The Commission found no evidence of any breach of the Competition Act and indeed concluded, in many important respects, competition is effective and that there is no harm for the consumer. However, despite this, the Commission identified other barriers to fair competition and proposed remedies in order to improve competition in local markets.
