The Cypriot Commissioner for State aid control authorises a research and development cooperation programme finding that it falls within EC Reg. N° 70/2001 (Joint Cooperation Programme)

Factual Background On 18 April 2006 the Research Promotion Foundation notified to the Commissioner for State aid control a draft aid scheme, entitled “Joint Cooperation Programme between Cyprus and Greece”. The general objective of the Programme is the promotion of cooperation and networking between Cypriot and Greek research organisations on selected thematic priorities, reflecting the common research interests of the two countries. The scientific areas covered by the Programme are those of health, information technology, agriculture and environment. The notified scheme is based on Commission Regulation (EC) No. 70/2001 of 12 January 2001 on the application of Articles 87 and 88 EC to State aid to small and medium-sized enterprises (OJ L 10/33, 13.01.2001), as modified by Commission
