Yves Comtois is Legal Consultant with the Antitrust and Competition Practice of Baker Botts’ Brussels office. With more than 25 years of experience in antitrust matters, Mr. Comtois has advised clients in high profile cases across a broad range of industries in all areas of competition law, including mergers and acquisitions, abuse of dominance and cartels. He was recently involved in the in-depth investigation of the Halliburton/Baker Hughes merger. Prior to working with Baker Botts, Mr. Comtois was a Partner for several years in the competition law group of McCarthy Tétrault in Montreal. He started off his career by practising competition law for three years with an international law firm in Brussels. Mr. Comtois graduated from the law faculty of McGill University in 1990 and received a diploma of specialised studies from the College of Europe in Bruges in 1991. He co-authored the first French-language textbook on Canadian competition law with his former Montreal colleagues Madeleine Renaud and Yves Bériault.
