

Vilen Lipatov
Vilen Lipatov is an Expert at CompetitionSphere since January 2022. Previously, he was Associate Principal at E.CA Economics in the Brussels office. His focus is on the economic analysis of platforms, vertical chains, conglomerate effects, and innovation. He has advised in high-profile antitrust investigations, such as abuse of dominance in Pay-TV and alleged predatory pricing in semiconductors. He has also advised on a number of complex merger reviews, including IBM/Red Hat, Hitachi/ABB, Monsanto/Bayer, Petrol/Geoplin, and Slovenske Elektrarne/ECE. Vilen is a CESifo Research Fellow. He has published in leading academic journals, such as the European Economic Review, Journal of Economic Behavior and Organization, Journal of Competition Law and Economics, Social Choice and Welfare, and Journal of Macroeconomics. Vilen holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the European University Institute. Before joining E.CA, he was a senior economist with Compass Lexecon. Prior to joining consulting, Vilen served as an assistant professor at the Universities of Frankfurt and Hannover. He has taught a wide range of graduate and undergraduate courses, including Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, Public Economics and Industrial Organization.
