Commissioner Paula Azevedo has an LL.M. in International Economic Law from the Georgetown University Law Center in Washington D.C. and a bachelor degree in Law from the University Centre of Brasília. Before taking office, she worked as a lawyer in the fields of competition and international trade. From 2007 to 2008, she worked in the Ministry of Justice at the Secretariat of Economic Law focusing on cartel investigations and was the Mercosur negotiator for antitrust issues. She is also a Professor of Law and Economics at the Institute for Public Law in Brasilia.
