Prof. Dr. Oliver Remien is full professor of law at the Faculty of Law of the Julius-Maximilians-Universität in Würzburg, Germany, where he holds the Chair of Civil Law, European Economic Law, Private International Law and Litigation as well as Comparatve Law. There, he also is the head of studies of the Companion Studies Program in European Law. He has a vast experience in European Private Law, a doctoral thesis on the astreinte (periodic penalty payment) in comparative and international perspective, a Habilitation-thesis on mandatory contract law and the freedoms of the EC-Treaty and he has organized a number of symposia and vastly published in his areas of research.
