Laura Black

Laura Black joined Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld in November 2022. She advises clients, including funds and multinational corporations, on investment screening within a broader national security context and provides strategic guidance and planning. She previously was the Director of Policy and International Relations at the Office of Investment Security since 2018. Before that, she was Senior Counsellor at the Office of the US Executive Director at the Inter-American Development Bank (2014-2018). She also worked at US Department of the Treasury from 2007 to 2014. She started her career as a Senior Associate at Cleary Gottlieb Steen and Hamilton (2000-2007). She graduated with a BA in Economics at Bucknell University and a Juris Doctorate at Harvard Law School.
