Giovanni Labate

Giovanni is an economist based in the Brussels office of Mapp. Before joining Mapp, Giovanni worked as an intern in the Chief Economist Team of the European Commission’s DG COMP. He holds a Master and a Bachelor degree in economics from Bocconi University, where he focused on econometrics and industrial economics, and spent time studying abroad at the University of California at Berkeley and at Sciences Po in Paris. Since joining Mapp in 2015, Giovanni has worked on a variety of competition matters before the French Competition Authority and the European Commission, including merger assessments and filings, antitrust cases and damage evaluations in the context of follow-on civil procedures. He has experience of multiple sectors, including telecom, transport, energy, retailing and consumer goods. An Italian national, Giovanni is also fluent in English and French and has a good understanding of Spanish.
