Gillian Douglas is Dean of The Dickson Poon School of Law at King’s College London. Before taking up this position in 2017, Professor Douglas was Professor of Law in the School of Law and Politics at Cardiff University and served as Head of the School between 2005 – 2010. Professor Douglas’ main research interest is family law, on which she has written extensively and she is a past Secretary-General of the International Society of Family Law. She has conducted several research studies into aspects of the family justice system, funded by, amongst others, the AHRC, ESRC, the Nuffield Foundation, the Leverhulme Trust and the Joseph Rowntree Foundation. Between 2010-2014, she was Chair of the Law Sub-Panel for REF 2014 - the UK’s research assessment exercise. She is a Fellow of the British Academy, the Academy of Social Sciences and the Learned Society of Wales and an Honorary Bencher of Gray’s Inn.
