Dr David Reader is a Lecturer in Competition and EU Law at the Newcastle Law School (UK) and a Senior Fellow in Competition and Consumer Law at the University of Melbourne. His main research interests are in the field of merger control, with a particular interest in the public interest, foreign direct investment and procedural issues arising from in cross-border transactions. His research also explores the application of competition law and regulation to energy, media and healthcare markets. Previously, David was a Senior Research Associate at the University of East Anglia’s Centre for Competition Policy (CCP), where he was also awarded a PhD for his thesis entitled ’Revisiting the Role of the Public Interest in Merger Control
