Mexican economist, MA in Economics from the University of Cambridge. BA in Economics from Universidad de Chile. Consultant for the Economics Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) ; Consultant for Foro Consultivo de Ciencia y Tecnología (2015) ; Visiting Scholar and researcher at the Economics Department of Universidad Iberoamericana, Mexico City (2012-2014). Head of the International Trade and Industry Unit at ECLAC in Mexico (2000-2011) and Economics Affairs Officer at ECLAC (1989-2000). During 1980-1989 she was a researcher and professor at the Economics Department of the Centro de Investigación y Docencia Económica (CIDE), Mexico City. She was a visiting scholar at several US academic institutions : Harvard Institute for International development, (HIID), Harvard University ; Economics Department, University of Connecticut, Storrs ; Center for Latin American Studies, Brown University, Providence, R.I. ; Center for US-Mexico Studies University of California, San Diego. Her research has focused on industrial policy ; trade and environment ; and competition policies. She has several publications on these topics.
