Bernard Roman

French Transports Regulatory Authority

Bernard Roman is president of the Arafer, the french rail and road regulatory body, since 2016. Born in 1952 in Lille, Bernard Roman was Deputy Mayor of Lille and Vice-president of the urban community from 1983 to 2004. He was Regional Councillor of Nord-Pas-de-Calais during 14 years and first Vice-president of the Nord-Pas-de-Calais regional council from 2004 to 2015. He was General Councillor of the North department from 1988 to 1997. Bernard Roman has been a deputy for the North since 1997 and Vice-President of the Socialist Group. He served 19 years on the Law Commission, which he chaired from 2000 to 2002, and has been parliamentary administrator for the National Assembly from 2012 to 2016.
