Prof. Ming-Zhi Gao is an Associate Professor at the National Tsing Hua University’s Institute of Law for Science and Technology. Prof. Gao received a master’s degree (MA) from National Taiwan University, and later on another master’s degree in energy and environmental law (LL.M) from the Institute of Environmental and Energy Law of K.U. Leuven in Belgium. He pursued further studies in K.U. Leuven and received a Ph.D. in Law. Since then, he has devoted himself in energy and climate legal research and projects in Taiwan, including publishing books and articles, hosting local and international energy law conferences, and participating in international events. Prof. Gao has a vision of making National Tsing Hua University one of the leading research institutes for energy law in East Asia. His main research is focused on energy and environmental law per se and their interaction. Over the past years, he has been very active in international publications involving investigations on global legal issues, as well as European, Asian, and Taiwanese energy laws. In recent years, he has remained one of the most productive scholars in the field of energy law in Taiwan, publishing articles in international energy and environmental law journals (e.g. European Environmental Law Review, International Energy Law Review, Renewable Energy Law and Policy, Carbon and Climate Law Review), as well as in science-oriented energy journals (Energy Policy, Renewable Energy & Sustainable Energy Review).
