Grant is the Senior Professional Support Lawyer for Baker & McKenzie’s Global Antitrust and Competition Group with responsibility for the know-how and training needs of a practice group comprising over 300 competition lawyers across 41 countries. A central part of his role involves monitoring and updating the group on key developments and trends in EU and global competition law, focusing on the practical implications for clients. He regularly develops and presents webinars as part of our Global Antitrust & Competition Webinar Series and is responsible for responding to competition authority consultations on legislative and policy proposals. Grant was appointed by the UK Office of Fair Trading as a Non Governmental Adviser to the International Competition Network and is an active member of the UK ICC Competition Committee ; the CBI and the Competition Law Association. He regularly assists Business and Industry Advisory Committee on issues before the OECD.

The power to conduct unannounced inspections of company premises (or even personal residences) - so called ’dawn raids’ - continues to be the most disruptive and intrusive of all the investigative tools at the disposal of an investigating competition authority.

In addition, while this foreword focuses on competition law dawn raids, experience shows that they are now being used in other areas regularly identified by companies as giving rise to the greatest compliance risk, e.g. tax and anti-bribery.
