Gilvandro Vasconselos Coehlo de Araújo is a Federal Attorney and Commissioner of the Brazilian Administrative Council for Economic Defense – CADE (since January 2014). He has previously worked as CADE’s Attorney General (2010-2014). Both offices were appointed by the Minister of Justice and commissioned by the President of the Republic after Senate approval. Prior to joining the CADE, he worked as a lawyer at Vitalino Advogados Associados in Recife where he was responsible for public law. He holds a bachelor degree in Law by the Catholic University of Pernambuco (1998), has a Diplôme d´Etudes Approfondies (DEA Droit Public Général) by the University of Montpellier I (2000) and graduated in Competition Policy by Getúlio Vargas Foundation in Brasília (2009). He is currently a PhD candidate in Law at the University Panthéon Assas - Paris II under the supervision of Laurence Idot on Jurisdictional Control of merger control decision – A comparative study between France, Brazil and European Union.
