Jose-Luis Buendia, retired in March 2022, is the former partner heading the Guarrigues Brussels Office. Prior to joining Guarrigues, Jose-Luis worked from 1991 to 2005 at the European Commission at various positions (Legal Service, Directorate-General of Competition, Cabinet of Commissioner Marcelino Oreja and Directorate-General Internal Market). He is Professor of European Law at the University of Brussels (Vrije Universiteit Brussels - VUB), since 2003 and he was Assistant Professor of Trade Law at the University of Zaragoza. He holds a Degree in Law and a and Ph.D. in Law from the University of Zaragoza. He was student at the College of Europe and obtained a Master’s Degree in European Legal Studies. He was also Visiting Researcher at Harvard University Law School and at the European Law Research Center & Real Colegio Complutense.
