Ingrid Breit is team leader IT policy development (Digital Criminal Justice) at the European Commission in the DG JUSTICE. Ingrid Breit previously worked with the Directorate-General for Competition of the European Commission. During her first six years she worked in the former cartels unit. In 2005 she shifted to the directorate for policy and strategy, working as policy and legal advisor on major policy projects of the European Commission in the competition field (e.g. Commission Notice on Best Practices in antitrust proceedings, Reforms of the Hearing officer’s mandate). Prior to joining DG Competition, she worked as a référendaire at the General Court in Luxembourg. Before that, she was advisor in the legal department of the Austrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. She holds a degree in law from the University in Vienna (1992), an LLM in European Law from the Catholic University of Leuven, Belgium (1994), and a PhD (1996) from the University in Vienna.
