Henry Ding’s latest position is partner and chief representative of Sidely’s Beijing office. His practice focuses on corporate finance and U.S. litigations. He has extensive experience in overseas listings by P.R.C. large state-owned enterprises and international bond offerings by the P.R.C. Ministry of Finance, Bank of China, China Development Bank as well as China Export & Import Bank. Henry has also been actively involved in overseas financings by P.R.C. high-tech companies and joint ventures between P.R.C. companies and foreign investors in industries such as automobile, food processing and steel processing. Henry Ding has been recognized for many years as a key individual among international law firms in Beijing, often noted for his work by major legal directories such as Asia Pacific Legal 500 and IFLR 1000 in which he has also been ranked as a leading lawyer. He has participated in the overseas equity offerings of several major Chinese companies, and auction sales of non-performing loans by state-owned banks and asset management companies to international buyers. Henry Ding participated in the securities class action brought against China Life Insurance Company Limited before a U.S. federal court and also the litigations against the People’s Republic of China in connection with defunct debts issued by previous Chinese government before a U.S. federal court, which cases resulted in favorable rulings for the clients. Henry Ding spent 10 years working in the P.R.C. ministry of foreign affairs before his study in the US, and has maintained close relations with various government agencies through his prior career position and the current one. He has on numerous occasions advised the P.R.C. ministry of foreign affairs, the ministry of finance, the ministry of commerce, certain P.R.C. provincial government agency and large state-owned companies with regard to their out-bound transactions and/or litigation strategies. Henry also provided regulatory advice to multinational clients with regard to their operations in China. He is a native Chinese speaker and is fluent in English.
