Glykeria Demataki is head of unit in the Cartel Directorate of the Directorate General for Competition of the European Commission. After working in the law firm Forrester, Norall & Sutton (now White & Case), she became réferendaire (law clerk) at the Court of First Instance of the European Communities. In 1996, she joined the Directorate General for Trade of the European Commission and in 2001, she joined the newly created Cartel unit of the Directorate General for Competition. In 2004, she joined a Merger Unit of the Directorate General for Competition. Subsequently, she moved back to the Cartel Directorate where she held successively the positions of Case Manager and Deputy Head of Unit whilst for the time being she is Acting Head of Unit. Mrs Demataki received a Doctorate in European and International Trade law from the University of Paris 2 (Sorbonne) and a Master of Laws (LL.M.) from Harvard Law School. She has also been a Visiting Scholar at Harvard Law School. She is a member of the New York, USA and Athens, Greece bars.
