Frank Montag is a partner in Freshfields’ antitrust, competition and trade group, based in the Brussels office. He has held numerous management positions in the firm including co-head of the global antitrust group (2000-2006) and chairman of the firm’s Finance & Risk Committee (2009 – 2015). A member of the Cologne and Brussels bars, his practice focuses on European, German and international competition law. Frank has over 25 years’ experience of advising international clients on complex merger transactions and investigations of anti-competitive behaviour ; his practice also spans European State aid law and international trade proceedings, and he is an experienced advocate before the European courts. Since June 2006 he has been chairman of the Studienvereinigung Kartellrecht, and he has over many years been non-governmental adviser at the International Competition Network conferences.
