Eileen Lagathu’s practice focuses primarily on antitrust and competition law, including behavioral and transactional matters, as well as litigation. She has a broad range of experience in complex litigation before the European Courts, from first instance through appeal. She also handles French and EU merger reviews and filings, as well as multijurisdictional reviews of mergers, acquisitions, and joint ventures. She represents corporate clients in investigations by competition authorities and counsels on antitrust compliance, abuse of dominant position, restrictive practice, consumer law, and State aid. She also has extensive experience drafting and reviewing distribution contracts (franchising, exclusive, selective, and agency agreements). Eileen advises and represents clients across a broad range of industries, including energy, petrochemicals, pharmaceuticals, health care, environmental services, research and technology, telecommunications, postal services, aviation, automotive, financial services, and retail. Prior to joining Jones Day, Eileen served as a trainee at the EU General Court, where she addressed anti-dumping, competition and agricultural law issues. Eileen has recently co-authored an article for the European Law Reporter on Competition fines and fundamental rights. She also teaches antitrust litigation in the Master Contentieux européens at the University of Paris II-Panthéon-Assas.
