Dominique Voillemot (1939-2011) practiced competition and antitrust law for more than 30 years. Dominique Voillemot joined Gide Loyrette Nouel in 1967, and has practised in Paris, New York and Brussels. He obtained his master’s degrees from the University of Paris Law School, Paris Institute of Political Sciences, and the Institut des Hautes Etudes Internationales, France. His practice focused on European law in matters of competition, merger control, free movement of goods and services, intellectual property, state aid, dumping and WTO law. He has represented clients before the European Court of Justice and the Tribunal of First Instance in Luxembourg, and been involved in numerous European Community cases including Suiker Unie, Cofaz, Cdf Chimie AZF, Alstrom (Woodpulp), Orkem, Nakajima All Precision, FFSA, EFMA and Yves Saint Laurent Parfums. He has acted in the assistance of MOFTEC (China) for the drafting of Chinese anti-dumping legislation, and was team leader of the TACIS Programme (a two-year assistance project 1997–98) for the Russian Competition Authority, financed by the European Commission. He is currently a member of International Bar Association (IBA) and the American Bar Association (ABA), and in the past he has been a member of the Paris Bar Council (Conseil de l’Ordre), the Council of the Bars and Law Societies of the European Community (CCBE) and the Conseil National des Barreaux. Until recently, he was a lecturer at the University of Paris V Law School, France (1972–98). He has had numerous volumes published including EEC Competition Law (4th edition 1982), French Competition and Distribution Law (3rd edition 1986), Merger Control in the EEC (Kluwer 1988), EEC Anti-dumping and Anti-subsidy Law (1993) and International Mergers – the Antitrust Process (co-author) (Sweet & Maxwell – 1st edition 1991, 2nd edition 1996, 3rd edition to be published in 2000).
