Jacques Steenbergen: Looking back at his experience as the President of the Belgian Competition Authority

After graduating with a Master in Law at the KU Leuven in 1972, you obtained a PhD at the KU Leuven with Professor Dr W. van Gerven on legal remedies and ailing industries in 1978, and you have always stayed connected with the academic world, teaching competition law at the University of Leuven from 1980 to 2014 and lecturing, giving conferences and serving as a member of the nomination of PhD examination committees in institutes and universities around the world. You regularly published on EU and competition law and are a member of the board of editors of SEW and a member of the Scientific Committee of Concurrences. You have also practised competition and EU law in various capacities: as a legal secretary to the president of the Court of Justice under the presidency of Professor J.
