SYNTHESIS
Anca Cojoc, the moderator of the session, introduced the webinar by defining two main notions: mobile network and network sharing agreements (NSAs). A mobile network is made up of a large number of geographic areas generally referred to as cells. They have base stations installed in these cells and the base stations send and receive radio signals to and from mobile handsets to enable users to connect to the Internet and make calls. A mobile network is complex and requires a lot of infrastructure that needs to be built. Because of the great costs associated with infrastructure, network sharing agreements usually allow operators to share these costs by sharing infrastructure. On the one hand, there is the passive sharing in which operators are simply sharing the passive infrastructure such as the sites, on the other hand, there is the active sharing in which they also share the Radio Access Network equipment (base stations + antennas).
