Dinner in honor of Marek Niechciał (President of the Polish Office for Competition and Consumer Protection - UOKiK)

Dinner organised by Concurrences Review with keynote speaker Marek Niechciał (UOKiK), in partnership with White & Case and Compass Lexecon.

On June 21st 2018, Concurrences held in Warsaw its second annual dinner with the support of Compass Lexecon and White & Case. This dinner was in honor of Mr Marek Niechciał, President of the Polish Office of Competition and Consumer Protection. The unique form of these Concurrences’ dinners aims to strengthen the dialogue between enforcers, companies and practitioners attending these exclusive events.

Mrs. Aleksandra Boutin, Senior Counsel at the Compass Lexecon, and Dr Katarzyna Czapracka, Partner at White & Case, introduced the distinguished guest of the evening, namely Mr Marek Niechciał, President of the Polish Office of Competition and Consumer Protection (UOKiK) since 2016. They recalled that he is the only person who has been fulfilling the President’s function twice in the history of the UOKiK (the first time being from 2007 to 2008). They quoted Mr Marek Niechciał:

“Every public authority should operate as an integral part of the Republic of Poland, and not work in silos. It is important for a public official to think about different aspects of a case, limited not only to law provisions, but also to do a “life test”, that is answering the question: would I like to see someone from my relatives in the situation of the consumer whose case I am dealing with”.
