Nicolas Charbit (The Editor Concurrences Journal)
The fourth edition of the Concurrences Journal conference ’New Frontiers of Antitrust’ was attended by 285 persons at the French Assemblée Nationale on 22 Feb. 2013. Attendees came from Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Romania, Spain, Switzerland, the UK and the US.
This year, we welcomed three keynote speakers: EU Commissioner Joaquin Almunia, EU Director General Françoise le Bail and Minister Fleur Pellerin. The four high level panels gathered 20 speakers from Belgium, Spain, the US and France. The result was a day of intense debate and discussion with enforcers, attorneys, in-house counsels and academics. The conference proceedings refl ect the intense debates held during this day. The proceedings have been released on line in Concurrences N° 2-2013. The print book version will be published by our partner Bruylant in November 2013.
We are most thankful to the conference Steering Committee headed by Frederic Jenny and Laurence Idot. Their choice for the four panels was carefully thought out to achieve just the right mix of topical subjects, political issues and scholarship. We are also thankful to the panel sponsors - Allen & Overy, Clifford Chance, Compass Lexecon, Covington, Jones Day and RBB Economics - and the social event sponsors - Cleary Gottlieb, CRA and Norton Rose - who helped make this event such a success from the point of view of both scholarship and networking.
