SYNTHESIS
Barak Richman moderated the discussion. He pointed that one of the great challenges of managing antitrust policy in the health sector – like the tech sector – is the pervasiveness of information asymmetries. Patients have difficulty evaluating the quality of care, and users of digital products cannot fully assess what providers do with their data or the services they offer. Thus, there often is a deep ambivalence in allowing open competition to take hold. For similar reasons, both sectors are rife with opportunities for market providers to exploit consumers.
