In the past, if a firm owned an infrastructure asset, the question was to know what obligations it had to other companies that need to use its asset, and also compete with it. The topic was then called discrimination, it is now called self-preferencing. The gatekeepers are also the owners of information systems and platforms that are prevalent in modern commerce.
