The recent action of the Competition Authority is in a form of continuity with previous practice but is marked by a rich topicality and innovation. In this respect, we can cite our recent decision sanctioning a cartel in the flooring sector. This decision is important, firstly, because of the high amount of the sanction, which reflects the duration and seriousness of the practices in question, but above all, in that it enabled the Authority to apply the settlement procedure to a cartel for the first time. The Authority was also able on this occasion to clarify its position on the issue of compliance undertakings.

Activity in the area of merger control was again very strong. A large number of decisions were issued in Phase 1 following commitments. This has allowed us, within a reasonable time frame, to adopt balanced solutions. By way of illustration, an operation in the private clinics sector, following a referral by the Commission, was able to be the subject of specific structural commitments to guarantee the quality of the medical offer and prevent the "exclusivity" of doctors in a geographical area and for certain major categories of diagnosis. In addition, the merger of two major online real estate advertising platforms has led to the opening of a Phase 2 phase which will allow an in-depth study of competition between the platforms in the digital world.
